Vol. 160 No. 15

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Division of County Dublin Estate.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state the reasons for the delay in subdividing the Newtown (McGirr) estate, Record No. S. 20416, among local uneconomic holders; and if he will state (a) the period for which the lands are let, (b) the purposes of letting, (c) under each heading the letting price per acre, and (d) the price paid to the owner of the estate.

There has been no avoidable delay in this matter. Whilst the formulation of a scheme for the Estate is in progress, I am as yet unable to say when division of the lands will take place but the claims of all local smallholders will be fully considered.

As regards the information sought at (a), (b) and (c), the lands are let up to 1st December, 1957; 173 statute acres in grazing and 28 statute acres in tillage at average letting prices of £5 2s. 0d. and £7 8s. 0d., respectively, per statute acre.

As regards (d), the purchase price of the Estate was £12,560.
