Vol. 160 No. 16

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Knock Water and Sewerage Schemes.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether he is aware that the contracts for the provision of water and sewage for Knock Shrine, County Mayo, are ready for execution by the county council and that these contracts cannot be signed, or work proceeded with, without his sanction by virtue of the provisions of his circular No. H. 17/56, dated 27th November, 1956; and, if so, if he will forthwith give the necessary sanction so that work can proceed.

I am not so aware. The Department's circular letter, No. H. 17/56, does not apply to the proposed water and sewerage schemes for Knock at their present stage. In the case of the water supply the county council's proposals for the acceptance of a tender have been submitted for approval, and the matter is under consideration.

No documents have yet been submitted relating to the sewerage scheme.
