Vol. 163 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Revoked Driving Licences.

asked the Minister for Justice if he will state the number of licences revoked by the courts because of conviction on charges of drunken driving, and the number restored on appeal to the Minister (a) between April, 1954, and March, 1957, and (b) since the recent change of Government.

The answer is as follows:—(a) 15; (b) nil.

May I take it that the Minister will pursue a policy of refusing to restore licences when they have been revoked by the courts?

I am pursuing a policy of examining each case that comes before me and examining it on its merits.
