Vol. 163 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dredging of Greencastle (Donegal) Harbour.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will have the dredging of Greencastle harbour expedited so as to relieve the congestion, caused by silting, among fishing boats in the harbour.

Following a survey of Greencastle harbour by engineers of the Office of Public Works, a report was received in my Department on minimum improvements estimated to cost £37,000. I am not satisfied that the scope of this scheme would adequately meet the actual and prospective fishery requirements at the port and my Department is in consultation with the Office of Public Works as to ways and means of achieving better results.
