Vol. 164 No. 3

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take business in the following order:— Nos. 6, 7, 8, 3 and 9. It is proposed that an Order be made by the Dáil to the effect that if Government business should finish before 3 p.m., questions shall be taken at the end of business.

Would the Tánaiste indicate what the sitting days between now and Christmas are likely to be?

That would be very difficult. My impression is that a one-day sitting next week will be sufficient. That will be required to enable some Bills to move from the Dáil to the Seanad, which, I hope, will be meeting the following week. If the Deputy asks me that question next week, I will try to give more information.

On what day is it proposed to sit next week?

On Wednesday.

And we will be able to know next week what will be the sitting days between then and Christmas?

I would not like to say that I will give a reply then which will be a committal, but I hope to be able to give a fair indication.

Would the Tánaiste indicate when a number of Bills appearing on the Order Paper are likely to be circulated?

That is precisely the information I have to get before I can reply to the Deputy's question.

We shall have a lot of news to get next week?

I hope so.

Could the Tánaiste let us know for what business we are meeting next week?

The Report and Committee Stages of Bills already considered by the Dáil.

And these are——?

I am assuming now that the business ordered for to-day will finish to-day and then next week's business will be the Committee Stage of the Landlord and Tenant (Reversionary Leases) Bill, the Undeveloped Areas (Amendment) Bill, the Social Welfare Bill, and possibly, if the Dáil will agree, the Gaeltacht Industries Bill——

No; we will want a fortnight for that.

——and the Prices Bill, on Report.
