Vol. 165 No. 1

Public Business. - Local Government Bill, 1958—First Stage.

Leave granted to introduce a Bill entitled an Act to make provision with retrospective effect for the removal of doubts in respect of the application of Section 23 of the Local Government Act, 1941, as amended by Section 24 of the Local Government Act, 1955, and the Local Government (Officers' Age Limit) Order, 1957, and in respect of cesser of office by certain persons and for the repeal of certain enactments.— (Minister for Local Government.)

When will the Bill be circulated?

On Friday.

If it is to be circulated on Friday then this day week is a bit soon for the Second Stage unless there is not much in it.

It is a very short Bill.

Suppose we order it for this day week and leave it until we have seen the Bill?

Second Stage ordered for Wednesday, 19th February, 1958.
