Vol. 165 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Ringsend Estuary Salmon Fisheries.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state the yield of salmon from Ringsend estuary in each year from 1953 to 1957, inclusive.

According to returns furnished by licence holders the quantities of salmon taken from the Ringsend portion of the Liffey estuary in the years indicated in the question are:—

1953

4,224 lb.

1954

1,660 lb.

1955

1,472 lb.

1956

1,777 lb.

1957

1,784 lb.

Could the Minister give any reasons for this very serious decline in the yield?

The Deputy had better ask another question about that.
