Vol. 167 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Lee Hydro-Electric Scheme: Compensation Claims.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he is aware that quite a number of claims for compensation in connection with the Lee hydro-electric scheme are still outstanding; and whether he can give particulars of the steps being taken to conclude these matters.

I am informed by the E.S.B. that they have to date received 188 claims for compensation in connection with the River Lee hydro-electric scheme and that all the claims have been discussed with the claimants' solicitors. The board state that settlements have been reached in 163 cases, that 15 are in course of settlement and that ten are being listed for settlement by the official arbitrator as agreement could not be reached between the claimants and the board.
