Vol. 170 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Turf-Burning Engines.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce what progress has been made by C.I.E. in the experiments for the provision of a turf-burning engine.

I understand from C.I.E. that a prototype locomotive has been constructed and is now undergoing tests.

Would the Minister not consider it is highly desirable to have such an engine available in view of the fact that we are totally dependent on foreign oil for our trains?

That seems to be an entirely different question.

It is not. The Ceann Comhairle decides that.

And I am deciding it is an entirely different question.
