Vol. 170 No. 4

Committee on Finance. - Vote 18—Expenses Under the Electoral Act and the Juries Act.

I move:—

That a sum not exceeding £18,500 be granted to defray the Charge which will come in course of payment during the year ending on the 31st day of March, 1959, for Expenses under the Electoral Act, 1923, and the Juries Act, 1927 (No. 12 of 1923 and No. 23 of 1927).

Is the Minister aware that the House would gladly give him a very much larger sum on this Vote for the purpose of ensuring that the people got the chance at an election to change the Government?

They will get chances later.

The last chance they got, Deputy Sweetman knows what happened to him.

Thanks to the untruth you told.

The Deputy might get a tighter run the next time.

The Deputy would not be able to go to the polls as the potential Minister for Agriculture the next time.

The Deputy was here a long time before you landed here.

Vote put and agreed to.
