Vol. 170 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Galway Industries.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state the results of the seven proposals before his Department for establishing industries in Galway City.

The seven industrial proposals to which the Deputy refers relate to Galway City and other parts of County Galway. In one case the firm concerned are already in part production and it is expected that full production will commence in the near future. In two cases trial production has commenced, and in one case premises are in course of construction. I cannot make any statement about the others at this stage.

Can the Parliamentary Secretary indicate where these premises are at the moment?

The only indication I can give is that they are in the area. The Deputy is asking about Galway City. There are three, I think, in Galway City; and the rest are in the remainder of County Galway. The Deputy would hardly expect me to give the exact location.

I think it is a reasonable request.

I would like the Parliamentary Secretary to give the locations.

There is one in Galway City, one in Oughterard, one in Carna and one in Tuam. As to the others, I am not in a position to give any further information about them at this stage, as several questions have to be decided finally before a firm decision is taken.

A Cheann Comhairle, before I put down this question, these locations were already decided. I think the answer is most misleading.
