Vol. 171 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Jet Planes: Transatlantic Services.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he has any information that air companies propose, when having jet planes in service, to by-pass Shannon Airport; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I have no information that air companies will cease to use Shannon Airport when jet planes are in operation.

Two air companies have already commenced scheduled transatlantic operations with jet aircraft. The schedules for these jet services do not provide for a stop at Shannon, but this does not necessarily mean that they will not land there. At the present time, many of the flights which land at Shannon are not scheduled to land there.
