Vol. 171 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. - Dublin City Flats.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he has had any negotiations with officials of the Dublin Corporation regarding the building of flats in the City Quay area; and if any decision has been arrived at.

I have not had any negotiations with officials of the Dublin Corporation regarding the building of flats in the City Quay area. No proposal for the erection of such flats has been submitted by the corporation. A request to amend the Dublin planning scheme to permit the building of flats in the City Quay area was received from the corporation on the 9th instant.

I understand that the corporation are awaiting a report from their housing architect in regard to the suitability of a site suggested by the City Quay Parish and Area Residents' Association and the matter will be considered when definite proposals for the acquisition of a building site are submitted to me.

asked the Minister for Local Government when the building of flats or houses will commence in the Powers Court area, Dublin.

I understand that the corporation expect that work on the scheme will be commenced within the next week.
