asked the Minister for Defence if he will state the Army dietary scales in respect of a recent week in a form similar to that given in a reply of 28th May, 1958, and the estimated cost per head, per day, and per week.

The cost of the food items issued in a Dublin barracks during the week ended Saturday, 8 Samhain, 1958, in accordance with Army ration scales was as follows:—

The cost at Dublin and Dún Laoghaire and national average retail prices are based on those ruling in mid-August, the latest period for which such figures are available in the Central Statistics Office.
