Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Employment Offices Registrations in October.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if arising out of his speech in the Dáil on the 29th October last he will state the number of persons registered at employment offices on each Saturday in October, 1958, who at the time of registration were in employment.

As the reply is in the form of a tabular statement I propose, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, to have it circulated with the Official Report.

The figures include, in addition to persons in wage-earning employment who were registered with a view to obtaining alternative employment, persons such as farmers' sons and relatives assisting farmers who were registered for seasonal work in the sugar factories, retired persons and students registered for seasonal work with the Department of Posts and Telegraphs, and small landholders and others affected by Employment Period Orders registered for the purpose of obtaining credited contributions but who are otherwise regarded as not unemployed.
