Vol. 171 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Drainage of Broadmeadow (Swords) River.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the present position regarding the arterial drainage work to be carried out on the Broadmeadow river at Swords; and whether such work will begin before 1st March, 1959.

Since the matter of the Broadmeadow catchment was previously raised by the Deputy in July last, the valuation survey has been completed. While progress has been made on the designing of a drainage scheme, it will be some months yet before a report can be furnished for consideration as to whether an economic scheme is possible. If, as I hope, such a scheme emerges, time will be needed for compliance with the statutory requirements, and there is no prospect that drainage works can be started before the date mentioned in the question.
