asked the Minister for Justice whether an Order has yet been made bringing Part V of the Arbitration Act, 1954, into operation; and, if so, what territories are affected by such Order; and, if no such Order has yet been made, when it is proposed to make such an Order.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Arbitration Act, 1954.
Since the Order bringing Part V of the Arbitration Act, 1954, into operation was drafted, a new convention has been prepared at a special conference of the United Nations which terminated in June last. This convention, which is designed to replace the Geneva Convention of 1927, is now being considered to see whether or not this country should become a party thereto. In the meantime, it is not proposed to bring Part V of the 1954 Act into operation.
