Vol. 171 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Report of Milk Costings Commission.

asked the Minister for Agriculture when it is proposed to publish the Report of the Milk Costings Commission.

It is not proposed to have the report published, for the reason that there is no demand for copies and the cost of printing the report, which is a voluminous document including over 200 pages of tables, would not accordingly be justified.

A copy of the report will be made available to the Deputy if he so desires.

Has the Minister investigated why there is no demand for the copies?

Would it not be more advisable to place a copy at the disposal of every Fianna Fáil Deputy, including the Parliamentary Secretary to the Taoiseach?

I hope the Parliamentary Secretary has learned a lot and says penance every day for his attacks.

Would the Minister say why it is possible for Deputy Ó Briain to inform the House that the Fianna Fáil Deputies have copies?

He did not say that I answered a similar question here some months ago addressed to me by Deputy Desmond, and I indicated— and not only on that occasion but on other occasions—that stencilled copies are in my Department and if anyone wants a copy to read he can have it.

If we are not asked for them, naturally we do not circulate them.

Arising out of that reply, would the Minister indicate when the Government intends to implement the findings of the commission?

The Deputy should have a look at the report first if he is interested.
