Vol. 171 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Tipperary Bog Plots.

asked the Minister for Lands whether the Land Commission propose to take over the Sharragh and Redwoods bogs of County Tipperary with a view to providing plots for the residents of that area; and, if so, when.

As regards Sharragh bog, this is listed for inspection in the near future.

As regards Redwoods bog, this turbary consists of the residue of the Trench estate, the arable land on which was divided many years ago. Some 330 acres of turbary were allotted between 1942 and 1948, leaving about 450 acres of bog still on hands. Final arrangements for the disposal of this turbary will be made when more pressing needs elsewhere permit, and, in the meantime, local demand is being catered for by way of seasonal lettings.
