Vol. 171 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Road Fund: Allocation to Kildare County Council.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state in respect of (a) the year 1957-58 the amount expended, and (b) the year 1958-59 the amount allocated to the Kildare County Council from the Road Fund.

The amount paid from the Road Fund to Kildare County Council during the year 1957-58 on foot of road and bridge grants allocated in that year and in previous years was £163,289. The amount allocated to the council in 1957-58 was £114,384. The amount already allocated in grants for 1958-59 is £133,100. The latter figure does not include the main road upkeep grant, notification of which awaited receipt of details of the council's provision for road expenditure. These details were not received until the 19th instant and are under consideration.

Could the Minister give an estimate as to what will be expended from the fund this year as compared with the £168,000 figure that he quoted?

I think there is possibly another question coming up somewhere later which gives a little more information in another way. I am afraid I could not make a guess at the moment, but I can get the information for the Deputy.

I shall put a question down for next week.
