Vol. 171 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cornamona (Galway) National School.

asked the Minister for Education when he expects to be in a position to seek tenders for the building of a new national school at Cornamona, County Galway.

The reverend manager has offered an alternative site, which is regarded as suitable, for the proposed new school to replace the present national school at Cornamona, County Galway. My Department is in correspondence with the reverend manager in regard to certain arrangements which will have to be made before a grant towards the cost of the erection of the new school can be sanctioned. It will inevitably take a considerable time to complete these arrangements, but my Department will endeavour to have matters expedited as far as possible.

When a grant has been sanctioned it will be necessary for the Commissioners of Public Works to prepare working drawings and a specification for the new school before tenders can be invited by them. I am unable to say at present when the commissioners will be in a position to seek tenders.
