asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state (1) what was the number of voters registered and entitled to vote on the plebiscite on the Draft Constitution, 1937, and (2) the number who (a) voted for the Constitution, (b) voted against the Constitution, and (c) did not vote, and (3) the number who voted for candidates at the general election held that year.

The following is the information requested:—

(1) Number of voters registered and entitled to vote on the plebiscite on the Draft Constitution, 1937

(a) voted for the Constitution

(d) invalid votes

(3)Number who voted at the General Election held that year (including 27,824 invalid votes)

(Voting at the plebiscite on the Draft Constitution took place concurrently with the voting at the general election in each constituency).

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state (a) the number of voters registered and entitled to vote at the election for the President in 1945, (b) the total number who voted in the presidential election, (c) the number who did not vote at the election, and (d) the number who voted at the local elections in 1945.

The following is the information requested:—

(a) number of voters registered and entitled to vote at the election for the President in 1945

(b)total number who voted in the presidential election (including 50,287 invalid votes)

(c)number who did not vote in the election

(d) the total number of votes cast at the local elections in 1945 cannot be ascertained as particulars of the number of invalid votes are not available; the total number of valid votes was

1,152,691

(No elections of members were held in 1945 for the councils of the countries of Dublin and Kerry. Elections were uncontested and, consequently, no poll was taken in six urban districts and four towns with town commissioners).

Voting at the presidential election took place concurrently with the voting at the local elections in 1945.
