asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will state the estimated increased (a) income and (b) expenditure consequent on the enactment of the Social Welfare (Amendment) Act, 1958.

The increase in the income to the Social Insurance Fund from employment contributions consequent on the coming into operation of the Social Welfare (Amendment) Act, 1958, on the 29th December, 1958, is estimated at approximately £130,000 a year; the increase arising from the Act in the expenditure from the fund on benefits is estimated at approximately £60,000 a year.
