Vol. 173 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cork Airport Land Acquisition.

10.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state the acreage of constructing Cork Airport, details of such acquisitions, and the price per acre paid for the lands.

The area of the lands acquired for development of Cork Airport is 495 acres. Of this area 469 acres have been acquired, comprising two entire holdings and four part-holdings in the townlands of Lehenagh More, Ballygarvan and Gortagoulane. Buildings are being acquired on three of the holdings. The lands in course of acquisition include a part-holding and three county council cottage plots containing 26 acres in the townlands of Ballyduhig North, Lehenagh More and Ballygarvan. The total purchase price of these lands is £38,325, excluding the cost of the country council plots, compensation for which has not been settled.

The prices agreed with the landowners for the lands were negotiated privately and I am not prepared to divulge particulars of these prices.
