Vol. 173 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - West Cork Rural Electrification.

13.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce what is the position with regard to the extension of rural electrification to the district of Kilcatherine, Eyeries, Ardgroom Inward and Ardgroom Outward, Country Cork.

I am informed by the Electricity Supply Board that the district of Eyeries is included in the Castletownbere rural area which has been developed under the rural electrification scheme for a number of years. Any householder who did not avail of the supply during the period of development of the area, but who is now anxious to obtain supply, should apply to the board's district manager, Mallow Road, Cork, who will quote the necessary terms.

With regard to Kilcatherine, Ardgroom Inward and Ardgroom Outward, I am informed by the board that these areas are included in the undeveloped Tuosist rural area in the board's Tralee district. This rural area has been considered for selection by the board on a number of occasions but has not so far been selected as the returns for the area did not compare favourably with those of other areas awaiting development in the Tralee district. The area will be reconsidered by the board in due course and the decision of the board will depend on how the returns then compare with those for other areas awaiting development in the Tralee district.
