Vol. 174 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Enforcement of Licensing Laws.

20.

asked the Minister for Justice whether he has received complaints in regard to the method of enforcing the present licensing laws; and whether, in view of his intention to introduce legislation to amend these unsatisfactory laws, he proposes to take any action in regard to the matter.

I have received complaints about the enforcement of the licensing laws, some to the effect that the Garda Síochána are too lax in this duty and others that they are too rigid.

There can be no question of instructing or permitting the Gardaí to anticipate the decision of the Oireachtas with regard to licensing hours.
