Vol. 174 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Income from Irish-Owned Cargo Ships.

11.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he will give details of (a) the net income derived from Irish owned cargo ships of 600 gross registered tons and under in the latest available year, (b) the countries with which these ships traded, and (c) the total number of voyages made between port and port.

I have no information about the earnings of these vessels. Statistics of the countries with which such ships trade and the total number of port-to-port voyages are not compiled by my Department. Ships' records, comprising the ships' log and crew agreements, from which certain information could be extracted, are deposited with the General Register and Record Office at 27 Eden Quay, Dublin, and may be inspected on payment of a fee of 2/6d. for each ship's record for a maximum period of six months.
