The Exchequer was not established until 1st April, 1922. The National Debt on 31st March, 1923, was £2,531,000. On this date in 1932, 1942, 1952 and 1958, the figures were £36,490,000, £86,565,000, £191,612,000 and £370,922,000, respectively.
