Vol. 174 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Office of Public Works Expenditure in Waterford.

17.

asked the Minister for Finance what was the total Vote for the Office of Public Works for the past ten years; how much of this Vote was expended in Waterford constituency on public works during that time; and if he will give a detailed statement of each work.

It is assumed that the question refers to the Vote for Public Works and Buildings rather than to the Vote for the Office of Public Works which relates to expenditure on office administration only.

The total of the amounts voted for Public Works and Buildings in the ten years ended 31st March, 1959 was £34,435,000. Records of expenditure on the Vote are not kept by the Commissioners on a county or constituency basis and it would not therefore be possible to supply the detailed information asked for except by an exhaustive examination, which would involve a disproportionate employment of staff and time.
