asked the Minister for Justice if he will state in relation to unsolved murders in Counties Wexford, Kerry and Carlow, the dates in each case on which the files submitted by local Gardaí reached the Attorney General, and the dates in each case on which they were returned with instructions, if any.

It is not the practice to furnish information on the lines sought by the Deputy as it might hamper Garda investigation and the administration of justice. I may say, however, that in none of the cases mentioned was any prosecution directed by the Attorney General.

Is it not a fact that at least in one of these cases——

On a point of order, could the Minister sit down while the Deputy is putting the supplementary?

I have a long back and it takes me a long time.

And the Minister has a hard neck on top of it.

Is it not a fact that in one of these cases the file was sent by the Garda authorities for a direction by the Attorney-General months ago and that it has not been returned to them by the Attorney-General's office?

I would not think it is my business, as representing the Minister for Justice here, to convey information pro or con on the supplementary question the Deputy has addressed to me.

I will agree that the Minister is too ignorant to do so.
