Vol. 174 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Hydrogen Bomb Tests.

8.

asked the Minister for Health if in view of the fact that the increased fall-out of strontium 90 and caesium 137 must cause an avoidable increase in the incidence of bone and blood cancer, especially in children, hereditary blindness, idiocy, and what are known medically as monsters, microcephalic infants, sterility, stillbirths, and embryonic and neo-natal deaths, he will advise the Government that a vigorous protest should be made at the United Nations and to the individual Governments concerned against the continuance of hydrogen bomb testing, which is the cause of the increase in these poisonous substances in the atmosphere and in food and drink.

I would refer the Deputy to the reply which the Minister for External Affairs will make to-day to a question on this subject.
