Vol. 175 No. 12

Fisheries (Consolidation) Bill, 1958 (Certified Consolidation Bill) (Seanad)—Report Stage.

Question proposed: "That the Bill be received for final consideration."

There are no amendments for the Report Stage?

The amendments made in the Seanad were of a very trivial character.

I understand the correct procedure is that if amendments come from the Seanad, the responsible Minister informs us when they are being taken. I do not care if they are being taken now, but I should like to see Standing Orders complied with, partly because on one occasion when I was here Deputy Lemass, the present Tánaiste, made me comply with them.

The obligation is on the Minister to inform the House of his attitude towards the amendments and name a date for their discussion. They can be taken straight away if there is no objection.

The chair has no knowledge of any amendments.

They were merely drafting amendments put in during the course of the examination of the Bill.

Then the answer is there are no amendments.

No amendments on the Report Stage.

Question put and agreed to.
Fifth Stage ordered for Wednesday, 1st July, 1959.
