asked the Minister for Education if he will state the number of children who failed the entrance tests for State-assisted secondary schools in 1958, or in the nearest year for which particulars are available.

According to the records of the Department of Education 305 pupils failed the entrance examinations conducted in 1958 by the managers of recognised secondary schools in accordance with the provisions of the

Rules and Programme for Secondary Schools 1958-59.
