Vol. 176 No. 3

Fisheries (Consolidation) Bill, 1958—Fifth Stage.

Question proposed: "That the Bill do now pass."

Would the Minister tell us when this Bill commenced?

This is the first time it has got through without an election.

How many meetings did the Special Committee have? I know I presided over forty-nine meetings.

What happens now if we pass the Bill through its final stage? Does it become law on being signed?

It seems suitable that this should be the first time it has reached the final stage. It will presumably be the first Bill for the new President to sign. Quite a revolutionary measure! Perhaps it is singularly suitable that it relates to fish—fresh and otherwise.

Consolidation is what it relates to.

Question put and agreed to.

A message will be sent to Seanad Eireann.

We have just been told that the Bill has been passed. Does it now go back to Seanad Eireann again?
