Vol. 176 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Flooding of Tipperary Lands.

11.

asked the Minister for Finance whether he is aware that extensive flooding of the lands of adjoining farmers has been caused by the Carrighorrig, Knockearl and Bally-finboy rivers; and when it is proposed to include these rivers in a drainage scheme.

The improvement of these rivers by way of schemes under the Arterial Drainage Act, 1945, will be considered in due course but having regard to the extent of the arterial drainage programme in prospect, I am not in a position to say when they can be reached.

Would the Parliamentary Secretary say if these are minor schemes or are they part of major catchment proposals?

They are not even as important as minor schemes. Minor schemes are listed and these are not.

They are not listed?

Even though they are not listed, if it is convenient to do unlisted works when either major or minor schemes are being done, they are attended to.
