12.

asked the Minister for Finance if it is his intention to introduce legislation to provide for an increase in pensions to retired mental hospital officials and servants.

13.

asked the Minister for Finance if it is his intention to introduce legislation to provide for an increase in pensions to retired local government employees.

With the permission of the Leas-Cheann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 12 and 13 together. The Pensions (Increase) Bill, 1959, which has already been introduced, contains provision enabling a local authority or mental hospital authority with the sanction of the appropriate Minister, to increase the pensions payable by them. The text of the Bill will be circulated very soon.

Legislation will be introduced?

It has already been introduced.

Could the Minister say off-hand whether the increases to these servants have already been provided for in the Supplementary Estimate?

I think most of them have.

All or most of them?

I am not sure. I am informed most have been reached.
