asked the Minister for Lands if he will state the area and location of lands which have been acquired by the Forestry Section for afforestation purposes in County Kildare.

The total productive area held by the Forestry Division of my Department in County Kildare is 4,983 acres, of which a total of 3,899 acres has been planted to date. There is, therefore, available for planting a reserve of 1,084 acres distributed over the three forests in the county as follows:—Donadea, 114 acres, Edenderry, 253 acres, and Monasterevan, 717 acres.

In the current season it is intended to plant a total of 688 acres at the Kildare Forests. This planting programme is divided as follows:— Donadea, 56 acres at Fearmore, Edenderry, 123 acres at Aghamellick, Clonard and Pass of Kilbride and Monasterevan, 509 acres at Moore Abbey, Cloneybeg, Maddenstown, Christianstown, Hybla and Kill.
