Vol. 177 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Votes for Garda.

12.

Mr. Ryan

asked the Minister for Local Government when he proposes to introduce legislation to permit members of the Garda Síochána to vote in Dáil elections.

As indicated in the reply to a Dáil Question on 28th April last, it is intended to include in forthcoming legislation to amend the electoral law a provision repealing the statutory prohibition which precludes members of the Garda Síochána from voting at Dáil elections.

It is not possible to say when this legislation will be introduced.
