Vol. 178 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Kildare Farmer's Land: Visits of Land Commission Officers.

15.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state the number of visits paid by officers of the Land Commission to the lands of Mr. M. Boland, Bishopslane, Ballymore-Eustace, County Kildare, since the holding was allotted to him in 1955, and the travelling expenses and subsistence allowances paid in respect of such visits to date.

It has not been the practice to keep records of inspections by reference to particular allotments and the information sought is not available. Generally, journeys are made as part of an over-all planned itinerary and individual isolated inspections are very exceptional.

No doubt, numerous inspections— mainly on request—have taken place in this case, especially before June, 1957, when Land Commission machinery standing by had to be re-directed elsewhere because of the allottee's attitude.

Is the Minister aware that recently—in fact, since my previous Question on the matter—a flock of folk from the Land Commission descended upon this man. I assume, from what the Minister says now, there is no record of their arrival there. They arrived quite unsolicited.

I have no doubt that a number of inspections which took place were due to the Deputy's Questions and representations.

This man does not want inspections. He wants water.

I think he would far prefer to get the seven acres of land which are still available.

He wants water.

I cannot hear the Minister over here.
