Vol. 179 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Grants for Farm Buildings and Water Supply Schemes.

28.

asked the Minister for Agriculture whether he is aware that there is widespread complaint with regard to the delay in the payment of grants under the farm buildings and water supplies schemes; and, if so, if he will ensure that payment in these cases is expedited.

It is the aim of my Department to pay such grants as promptly as possible. Circumstances arise, however, when delay arising from the transfer of staff to other important work occurs. Apart from such factors, there would have to be some time lag in the case of such popular schemes. I can say, however, that the number of complaints received in my Department under this head is very few.
