Written Answers. - Limerick Corporation Proposals.

asked the Minister for Local Government what proposals are before him for his consideration from the Limerick Corporation; and if he will state the present position in each matter.

As the reply is in the form of a tabular statement, I propose, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, to circulate it with the Official Report.

Following is the statement:—

PROPOSALS* from Limerick Corporation before the Minister for Local Government for approval.

Proposals for which approval is sought

Present Position

Housing:—

Working drawings for a scheme of 40 houses and 2 shops in the GarryowenPennywell area.

Received on 5th February, 1960. Being examined.

Sanitary Services:—

Working Drawings for Galvone Main Drainage.

Received on 12th November, 1959, and examined. Before approval can be given information is awaited from Corporation as to future development in the area affected by the scheme.

Contract documents for drainage scheme at Caherdavin, Ennis Road.

Received 25th August, 1959, and examined. This is a joint scheme with Limerick County Council and the contract documents cannot be approved until the contract documents for the county portion of the scheme are being approved. The latter documents were received on 20th January, 1960. Further information on matters that may require modification of the scheme has been requested from the county council.

Employment Schemes:—

Erection of boundary wall at Island Road Housing Scheme.

Application for Special Employment Schemes grant received 2nd February, 1960. Recommended to S.E.S.O. for grant 9th February, 1960.

Extension of playing pitch at Caledonian Place.

Road improvement at Cathedral Place.

Received on 3rd February, 1960 and being examined.

*Proposals are interpreted to mean proposals for works.
