Vol. 180 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Telephone Delays.

44.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs whether he is aware of the long delays experienced by persons telephoning the telephone supervisor and the exchange in the evening time in the Dublin area; and whether he will take steps to provide a faster service.

The average time which elapses before a caller to the Dublin exchange is answered during the evening period is less than 10 seconds. This represents, by internationally recognised standards, a first class service and I do not consider that provision of a faster service is warranted.
