NOTES:
(a) This is the average number employed for a full year. Employment on Land Commission estate improvement works is casual in nature and it is estimated that the average duration of each operation is from 10 to 13 weeks. In all, 3,000—4,000 different workers are employed in a full year.
(b) Basic weekly rate of wages at present ranges from £5 17s. 6d. (minimum) to £6 8s. 6d. but at 107 forests, where the Incentive Bonus Scheme is in operation and at which 2,975 men are employed, bonus earnings would bring the gross earnings of most workers to over £7 per week.
(c) Inclusive of payments under the Incentive Bonus Scheme.
