Vol. 180 No. 9

Committee on Finance. - Oireachtas (Allowances to Members) and Ministerial and Parliamentary Offices (Amendment) Bill, 1960—Committee Stage.

Sections 1 to 8, inclusive, agreed to.
SECTION 9.
Question proposed: That Section 9 stand part of the Bill.

What are the average total earnings of the Attorney General? Over and above the actual salary he receives, there is an income in respect of fees. What is the sort of average figure over the years?

Outside his salary?

I am not sure if I can get the figure but I have not got it.

I should be glad if, at the Minister's convenience, he could get over a period of five or ten years what the average would work out at.

I am afraid we would have to ask the Attorney General for that figure.

I thought fees were recorded.

I do not think so.

In any case, the Minister can look into it. I take it the Minister understands that I am speaking of public fees, not referring to his private practice? I am referring only to the fees received in respect of his office as Attorney General.

Yes, I understand.
