Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Government Temporary Employees.

11.

Mr. Ryan

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the number of persons in temporary governmental employment who have served for a continuous period of more than five years.

Making allowance for the effect of seasonal employment, there were on 23rd March, 1960, 10,780 persons in temporary governmental employment who had served for a continuous period of more than five years. About one quarter of these were part-time employees. Persons paid on a contract, capitation or fee basis, locally recruited staff of the Department of External Affairs serving abroad, and Office of Public Works staff employed solely in subsidiary employments such as caretaking of national monuments have been excluded.
