Vol. 181 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Ballycotton Pier Extension.

37.

asked the Minister for Lands if he has arrived at a decision on the proposed extension of Ballycotton pier about which conferences were held between his Department and the Office of Public Works two years ago; if he can now state the result of these conferences; and when he intends going ahead with the pier extension.

My function in the case of fishery harbours is to recommend a contribution from State funds towards the cost of improvements where I am satisfied that the outlay would be justified in the interests of fisheries. At Ballycotton the problem seems to be a technical one of devising an effective scheme of improvements at reasonable cost and I am having further inquiries made on this aspect of the matter.
