Vol. 181 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Budget Provision for Pension Increases.

8.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will give an approximate breakdown of the figure of £150,000 mentioned in the Budget Statement as being provided for increases in pensions for civil servants, army personnel, etc. and in military service pensions.

The provision of £150,000 in the Budget, which was necessarily approximate, was framed on the basis that Civil Servants and Teachers would account for about 20 per cent. each of the total sum; Army pensions, retired pay, special allowances, etc., for about 30 per cent. Military Service Pensioners about 12½ per cent. and Garda, R.I.C. and miscellaneous for the balance of 17½ per cent.

Does the amount include disability pensions?

Yes. Army pensions and Special Allowances include disability.
