Vol. 183 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Provision of Technical School in Ballyfermot.

43.

Mr. Ryan

asked the Minister for Education if he is aware of the pressing need for a technical school in Ballyfermot, Dublin; and what is the present position regarding the provision of such a school.

I am aware that there is need for facilities for vocational education in the Ballyfermot area, and sanction in principle has been given to the City of Dublin Vocational Education Committee for the provision of separate boys' and girls' vocational schools. The purchase of sites for the schools has been sanctioned and proposals received in my Department following the Committee's meeting of May last are at present under consideration. It is not possible to say, at this stage, when the schools will be provided.
