Vol. 183 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Piped Water Supplies to Dingle Gaeltacht Areas.

9.

asked the Minister for Local Government the date on which the original proposals for the provision of piped water supplies to the Dingle Gaeltacht areas were first transmitted by the Kerry County Council to his Department; the date on which sanction in principle was extended to the proposals; what further information or requirements were then requested by his Department, and if these have now come to hand and the date on which it is proposed to commence work in connection with the provision of such water schemes.

Kerry County Council submitted a list of proposals for piped water supplies to certain areas in the Dingle Gaeltacht on 16th July, 1959. The plans and other details necessary for preliminary examination of the schemes were furnished on 22nd February, 1960, and approval in principle to each scheme issued on 27th April, 1960, with a request for an estimate of cost and descriptive specification in respect of all the schemes, details of reservoir design and records of gaugings and population in respect of five of the schemes. This information has not yet come to hand.

I am not yet in a position to say when work on any of the schemes will commence.
