Vol. 183 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Road Transport Regulations.

22.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power how many regulations have been made under the Road Transport Act, 1932, section 23, since the 1st April, 1957, authorising increases in (1) fares chargeable on provincial omnibus services, other than those provided by Coras Iompair Éireann, and (2) fares and freight charges on services provided by Coras Iompair Éireann; and what was the amount in each case.

The only Regulations made since 1st April, 1957, under Section 23 of the Road Transport Act, 1932, were those made on 11th July, 1960 (Statutory Instrument No. 147 of 1960). Those Regulations authorise increases not exceeding 7½% (subject to rounding up) on the existing schedules of maximum fares for provincial omnibus services other than services provided by C.I.E. Section 20 of the Transport Act, 1958 empowers C.I.E. to fix their own fares and freight charges.
